Svensky Kaubandus Acquires Põltsamaa Business

Svensky Kaubanduse AS has reached an agreement with Orkla Eesti, under which Svensky will acquire the Põltsamaa factory along with its brand and production operations. The transaction marks a significant step in the company’s growth strategy and strengthens Svensky’s position in the Estonian food market.

As part of the deal, Svensky will acquire the production complex, brand, product portfolio, and all existing employment contracts. The Põltsamaa factory will be handed over to the new owner at the end of April, and production will continue at its current volume. All employees will continue in their roles, ensuring production continuity and the preservation of local expertise.

According to Sven Voites, head of Svensky Kaubanduse AS, Põltsamaa is a strong and beloved Estonian brand with a long history and significant development potential. “Our goal is to develop both production and the brand on a long-term basis, building on the existing team and local know-how. We see Põltsamaa as an important part of Svensky’s future growth strategy,” said Voites.

The parties have also agreed on continued cooperation — Orkla will remain a client of the Põltsamaa factory and will continue to order products manufactured there in the future, including vegetable preserves. This provides the factory with a stable order base and creates a strong foundation for further development.
